German hypermarket Kaufland prepares online grocery delivery

Hypermarket chain Kaufland, is readying an online grocery shopping operation in Berlin that will also include fresh food. It’s not clear when the ecommerce service of Kauflan will officialy launch, but rumors say they will begin early next year with the online grocery shopping service.

By the beginning of next year consumers in Berlin should be able to order their groceries online. It will start as a pilot project, but the goal is to offer customers a wide range of products, so they can to all week’s grocery shopping at the Kaufland website.

As etailment writes, Kaufland wants to position itself somewhere between Rewe and Amazon. In February, Kaufland announced it was ready to start their own online sales department. Back then, expectations were also for the online grocery store to open in 2017. And it was said Kaufland also intended, in the next two to three years, to develop an online store and market in Poland.
