Visa Checkout to launch across Europe

Visa Checkout to launch across Europe

Visa will make its online payment service Visa Checkout available to merchants and consumers in the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Poland and Spain this year. With Visa Checkout, users have the security and convenience of the Visa card, but then in the digital world.

Visa shared this news via an official press release today. “Following the successful launch and growth of Visa Checkout in many countries last year, we’re continuing our momentum in 2016, with the long term vision of making it easier for consumers to use their Visa cards on any device, anywhere in the world”, says Sam Shrauger, senior vice president of digital solutions at Visa Inc.

It’s no surprise the company wants to extend the international availability of Visa Checkout, as ecommerce is increasing in usage among consumers across the world, particularly on mobile devices. In Europe, the ecommerce industry is growing harder than the total retail industry and mcommerce is increasing its share for the last few years. “The incredible growth in connected commerce makes this the perfect time to bring Visa Checkout to the hundreds of millions of connected consumers using mobile devices across Europe today”, Shrauger says.

Visa Checkout was introduced two years ago and had thus far launched in 16 countries. Nowadays more than 11 million consumer accounts are created and the payment service is accepted by 250,000 merchants.
