Aldi to launch online bazaar store in Spain

Aldi to launch online bazaar store in Spain

German discounter Aldi is again expanding its ecommerce division. It has announced that it will launch an online shopping service for non-food products. The service will launch in the next few years.

Aldi is well-known for its discount-based product offer. It sells food products, as well as non-food products that are included in its bazaar section. Every week, the section has a new product offer. In the next coming years, that section will also be available online to customers in Spain.

Expansion online channels

The discounter has previously tested an online offer in Spain, as it did a trial last year of a delivery service for its online groceries. Now, it wants to expand its online channel again with bazaar products. The product offer will include the categories DIY items, gardening, toys, home, leisure and sports, and small appliances.

‘Aldi Spain is now hiring an ecommerce team.’

The launch of the online store is a step forward in the company’s omnichannel strategy. In order to prepare for the launch, the company has started a hiring process to incorporate an ecommerce team. The team will manage the day-to-day involved with the new online bazaar service.

40 new supermarkets in 2022

According to research, Aldi is currently serving more than 6 million Spanish families. The discounter is thus gaining popularity in the country. In addition to its online expansion, the company is also planning to launch over 40 supermarkets in the country during this year.
