AliExpress customers in Europe can pay later

AliExpress customers in Europe can pay later

Starting today, AliExpress customers in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Finland can choose when and how they want to pay for their goods. This is the result of a partnership between Klarna and AliExpress’ payment service provider Adyen.

Swedish payment service provider Klarna, Dutch payments company Adyen and Alibaba’s payments company Alipay have joined forces to offer customers in some European countries the possibility to pay later.

Expansion to more countries later this year

According to the three payments companies, this is just the first phase of the partnership. The goal is to expand to additional markets later this year.

Michael Rouse, CCO at Klarna, is happy with the partnership and the fact shoppers have greater choice for how to pay at checkout. He says he’s looking forward to expanding this to additional markets with Alipay, Adyen and AliExpress very soon.

Improving the customer experience

Cheer Zhang of AliExpress, says that at the business-to-consumer marketplace they are constantly looking for new ways to improve the customer experience. “Klarna’s Pay later has established itself as one of the most preferred payment alternatives across certain European markets, with high demand from consumers and we are excited to add this popular option to our checkout on multiple markets.”
