An Post opens Dublin Parcel Hub

An Post has opened its new Dublin Parcel Hub, a 15 million euros investment in automated parcel processing. The logistics center is 50,000 square meters big and should significantly increase An Post’s parcel processing capacity.

The new technology, which is self-learning and recognizes all Irish locations, enables the Irish postal service provider to process 13,000 parcels every hour. It also changes the company’s parcels operation from a manual set-up to a 90 percent automated process.

The company says the new hub is a gateway for incoming and outgoing national and international parcels. “It’s also a key milestone in An Post’s transformation from an old world of letters to a new world of ecommerce logistics.”

1 million parcels during Black Friday and Cyber Monday

The Dublin Parcel Hub handled over one million parcels generated by online shoppers during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, An Post will process 16 million parcels from the United Kingdom, 5 million from the US, Canada and Brazil, and over 1 million from Germany.
