B2B marketplace Ankorstore launches in Germany

Ankorstore, a B2B marketplace from France, has opened its doors in Germany. With a look that is reminiscent of a business-to-consumer website, the platform wants to adapt the distribution between brands and retailers to today’s needs.

Ankorstore just announced its official launch in Germany, making this the fourth market in Europe where the Paris-based startup is now active. The company, founded in 2019, started in France and soon expanded to Spain and Belgium.

6 million euros funding

This quick expansion was possible due to a 6 million euros funding in their first round, led by Global Founders Capital, Alven and Aglaé Ventures. Ankorstore was founded by Nicolas d’Audiffret and Nicolas Cohen (founders of A Little Market), Pierre-Louis Lacoste (formerly Country Manager at Etsy) and Mathieu Alengrin (former Head of Engineering of Vestiaire Collective).

Making the B2C experience accessible to retailers

With Ankorstore, the founders want to give stationary retailers in particular the opportunity to stand up to online retailers. “Nowadays, it’s difficult for a manufacturer or a brand to sell their products offline Europe-wide, at the same time it is very difficult for brick-and-mortar retailers to quickly find a selection of different and authentic brands to compete with ecommerce”, cou-founder Pierre-Louis Lacoste says. “We want to make the B2C experience that end customers know from Zalando for example, accessible to retailers in order to gain efficiency and flexibility.”

We want to make the B2C experience, which customers are familiar with, accessible to retailers.

Ankorstore’s goal in Germany alone is to target over 800,000 retailers. It wants to do this by offering them access to thousands of brands and giving them the possibility to pay after 60 days. It also offers a low minimum order value, while retailers can test products before ordering in bulk.

Since its launch, more than 3,000 active retailers and  over 400 brands have connected to the online B2B marketplace.

Currently, over 3,000 retailers and 400 brands have registered at Ankorstore.
