BigCommerce expands to France, Italy, and the Netherlands

BigCommerce has announced today it will expand to France, Italy, and the Netherlands. The expansion takes place in the form of a fully localized experience, letting merchants use the platform to manage their store in their local language. Local payment methods and currencies are also included.

BigCommerce offers merchants in France, Italy, and the Netherlands access to what they call a “flexible and enterprise-grade ecommerce platform” that’s built to sell on a local and global scale. The expansion follows one year after the company’s IPO in August 2020 and three years since the ecommerce software provider set foot in Europe with an office in London.

Ecommerce sales in Europe grow year on year

“In the UK as well as France, Italy and the Netherlands, the volume of ecommerce sales is growing year on year. It is estimated Eurozone ecommerce sales are expected to total 448 billion euros by the end of this year alone”, the company says in a press release.

BigCommerce powers over 60,000 merchants worldwide.

BigCommerce already powers over 60,000 merchants worldwide, and the current expansion will create new roles in France, Italy, and the Netherlands  to work directly with local merchants. “They will be able to use our platform to manage their store in their local language, as well as create a fully localized website experience for their shoppers, with their local payment methods and currencies”, BigCommerce explains.
