BigCommerce launches dropshipping with Avasam

Leading ecommerce software company BigCommerce is integrating with dropshipping marketplace Avasam to launch its new dropshipping service: ‘Click2Launch’. It will make BigCommerce an even bigger competitor for Shopify.

Avasam is a multi-channel dropshipping marketplace from the United Kingdom. Online retailers can integrate their store, get products and automate their order processing, payments and shipping through the ecommerce software.

Over 15 product categories

The Click2Launch dropshipping integration is ‘intuitive and simple’, according to the companies, offering pre-installed themes and pre-loaded products. Merchants can sell a wide range of products with over 15 categories and no upfront stock purchases. Like marketplace Avasam, the service will automate ecommerce functions such as order processing, inventory synchronization, payment and shipping.

Mustafa Khanbhai, Chief Revenue Officer at Avasam, says: “Our catalogue team curates top trending products and pre-load them into your store ready to sell based on your category of choice – it couldn’t be easier.” He mentions offering categories such as home and garden, health and beauty, consumer electronics, sport and fitness as well as pet supplies.

‘Simplifying the process for small businesses’

BigCommerce’s senior vice president and general manager EMEA Jim Herbert comments: “Designed with our partners at Avasam, our new integration makes large strides in simplifying the process for small businesses or aspiring entrepreneurs to create their online dropshipping business.”

“The integration offers a competitive advantage for small-and-medium-sized merchants.”

He adds: “With the ongoing supply chain challenges and stock outages created by the increase in costs of goods, reducing supply chain touchpoints and enabling access to products close-to-source is a competitive advantage this integration offers for small-and medium-sized ecommerce merchants.”

Competition with Shopify

With the new dropshipping integration meant to be quick and easy, BigCommerce becomes an even bigger competitor for Shopify. The latter is known for its intuitive platform and dropshipping plugins with Oberlo and AliExpress.

Only last year, BigCommerce set foot in France and the Netherlands, with Germany following early 2022. These are also leading European growth markets for Shopify after the United Kingdom. To illustrate: German Shopify stores grew over 400 percent between 2020 and 2022.
