BigCommerce launches multi-currency features

BigCommerce launches multi-currency features

BigCommerce introduced a collection of multi-currency features, which enables merchants to present and process online purchases in over 100 foreign currencies. This should make it easier for online stores to sell cross-border to shoppers across Europe and beyond.

For customers of ecommerce websites running on BigCommerce’s ecommerce software, this news means they can experience localized shopping tailored to their language and currency. In Europe, Ben & Jerry’s, Bliss, Ford and Skullcandy are among the thousands of BigCommerce’s customers.

Integrations with major payment providers

The foreign currencies are offered through integrations with payment providers Adyen, Elavon, Klarna, PayPal Express Checkout and Stripe. Later this year, BigCommerce will add support for Barclaycard, BlueSnap and PayPal powered by Braintree. The multi-currency solution is available across all plan types at no extra cost, BigCommerce explains.

“As brands and online marketplaces adapt to the rapid growth of cross-border ecommerce, a majority of consumers now expect merchants to allow them to pay using their local currency”, the company explains the launch.

It also refers to a study done by PayPal that shows that 76 percent of online shoppers prefer to have the option to pay for purchases in either their local or preferred currency.

Most online shoppers want to pay in their local or preferred currency.
