
Allegro is a major online marketplace from Poland. In February of 2020, the website entered the top 10 list of biggest ecommerce websites in the world, at least in terms of monthly visits.
Allegro was founded in 1999 and was initially run from the basement of a computer hardware wholesales. Nowadays, over 21 million accounts have been created on the platform that connects buyers and sellers. Most of the items listed on Allegro are new, with about 10 percent being second-handed.
Allegro started selling itself in 2015
In 2015, the company joined the other sellers on the platform by launching its Official Allegro Store. This store operates on the same terms as every other seller on the platform.
Entering and leaving German market
In June 2016, Allegro opened its door in Germany by launching Allegro.de, but already in March 2017 it discontinued the allegro.de project and thus left the German market.
