The beginning of Wildberries
Wildberries was founded by Tatyana Bakalchuk in 2004, when she was on maternity leave. She discovered how hard it was to shop for clothes for herself with a baby at home. She ordered lots of clothes from German fashion retailer Otto and Quelle and tried to resell them, after storing them in her apartment. She delivered the orders to customers herself. Later, Wildberries started to offer other types of products, such as household appliances, cosmetics and toys.
In 2017, Wildberries became the biggest online retailer of Russia And in 2019, Tatyana became the second billionaire female in Russia, while Wildberries itself was also valued at over 1 billion euros.
