Greek online grocery e-Fresh grew 93% in 2018

E-Fresh, a fast-growing online grocery retailer from Greece, has had a successful year. The digital supermarket yesterday announced that its sales have increased by 93 percent last year. The company also secured a 88 percent repeat customer rate, while the number of customers grew 94 percent.

The online grocer did not only achieve good numbers with regards to customers and sales, it also expanded its suite of machine learning technology and saw the number of employees grow to over 150.

AI and robotics in fulfillment center

The online supermarket uses artificial intelligence to maintain a 4-minute fulfilment time and thanks to the use of automation and robotics technology in their fulfillment centers a delivery within 3 hours from order placement can be guaranteed.

During the last three years, E-Fresh delivered over 250,000 online grocery orders in Greece. The company has now announced that it plans to continue its growth plans by investing in existing technological innovations.

“There is a global opportunity to reinvent how existing tech companies can find new uses for AI and automation in ecommerce, says CEO Zina Mavroeidi. “Having achieved this in our local market, we are targeting global markets in the sector as consumer buying patterns continue to evolve there”, she says. “In the next five years, we aim to grow aggressively and increase our repeat customer rate through personalization and AI.”

18,000 products lines

Currently, E-Fresh offers 18,000 product lines including fresh fruits and vegetables. The company has over 60,000 registered users was recognized as the best online supermarket in Greece by the Greek e-Commerce Association.
