Italian online retailer ePrice opens marketplace to European merchants

ePrice, one of the biggest online retailers in Italy, has launched a new marketplace. The ecommerce company wants to improve its product selection and growth in the Italian market as well as in Europe. It is now opening the marketplace to European merchants, who will be able to sell their products to Italian customers.

ePrice is an Italian online retailer that offers more than 800,000 different products in categories such as consumer electronics, office supplies, books, movies and DVDs.. It now wants to grow its marketplace and cover the long tail on secondary categories that have low margin and/or high inventory costs, like toys and home improvements.

“In a high-potential and competitive market, having an online marketplace is a growth accelerator for us”, says Raul Stella, CEO of ePrice. “By significantly increasing our product range and offering the best possible price to consumers, we will be able to improve the overall customer experience and it will also help us to further accelerate our growth in the Italian market.”

Marketplace is ‘made in Italy’
The new marketplace of ePrice emphasizes it’s a marketplace ‘made in Italy’ – a term used by many Italian ecommerce companies to promote the local industry – and it says it’s being used by 3 million Italians, “who are ready to buy from you”. It wants to attract foreign sellers, by explaining how the marketplace is 100% Italian, and that ePrice is the local leader of ecommerce that knows the market and the customers’ and sellers’ needs.

If a seller decides to offer its products via ePrice’s marketplace, an account manager will assist him with automating and simplifying the management of the store. Both ePRICE and Marketplace customers can have their products delivered to their home or pick them up at 79 Pick&Pay locations across the country.

A monthly subscription costs 29 euros (+VAT), but is free during the first three months. No commission is needed for uploading the products and managing the inventory. However, there is a 5% to 8% fee (depending on the product category) of the sales price.

Owned by Banzai
ePrice is owned by ecommerce and media solution provider  Banzai. With its websites, Banzai serves more than 18 million Italians every months, thereby working together with thousands of brands. During the first quarter of this year, Banzai’s revenue increased by 20% compared to the same period last year, reaching 49.7 million euros. Its ecommerce revenue increased even more, by 21%, reaching 44.7 million euros.
