MetaPack acquires US shipping vendor ABOL Software

MetaPack today announced the acquisition of ABOL Software, an American provider of multi-carrier shipping software. With the acquisition MetaPack’s global delivery services offering gets expanded and opens up a new market for customers who want to drive cross-border sales and improve their international delivery experience.

MetaPack acquires US shipping vendor ABOL Software
Founded in 1999, MetaPack has been growing considerably as it also acquired European shipping solutions provider XLogics last year, appointed a new COO as a result of its growing customer base and opened offices in Germany and France.

Their latest act is the acquisition of ABOL Software, which has strong relationships with big carriers like DHL, FedEx, UPS and USPS. MetaPack wants to leverage ABOL’s strengths in the US market to help European retailers drive overseas sales by providing more convenience, transparency and choice to their customers.

“The latest acquisition is key for our international growth and demonstrates our commitment to providing a first-class service to our customers”, says MetaPack’s CEO and founder Patrick Wall. “The move will enable us to offer more competitive cross-border delivery services to retailers, while allowing them to venture into new markets and drive business growth.”

Multi-carrier delivery solutions fundamental to global ecommerce growth
According to Terry Leahy, former CEO of Tesco and now a member of the board of directors at MetaPack, the acquisition underlines the UK’s leadership position in global ecommerce and demonstrates the strength of UK tech talent. “I’m excited about MetaPack and its capability to provide multi-carrier delivery solutions which are fundamental to driving the growth of online global retailing.”

MetaPack’s software-as-a-software platform connects shippers with parcel carriers, as well as a wide range of alternative delivery, collection and returns services. With the software customers can have a better delivery experience at all stages of the parcel’s journey.
