Mondial Relay expands to the Netherlands

French parcel delivery platform Mondial Relay has announced its expansion to the Netherlands. In the center of the country, the company opened a sorting center from which it can reach a thousand pick-up and drop-off points.

Mondial Relay is one of many ecommerce logistics companies in Europe, but it has a special focus on so called PUDO points: Pick-Up and Drop-Off. With this method it serves over 90,000 online retailers across Europe.

‘Europe’s leading out-of-home solution for ecommerce ‘

Several months ago the company got acquired by InPost, which has had plans to expand in Europe for years now. The acquisition was officially completed last week, with InPost stating it want to make Mondial Relay into Europe’s leading out-of-home solution for ecommerce.

With the new sorting center in the Netherlands, Mondial Relay can reach about a thousand pick-up and drop-off points, but already this year, the company wants to expand this number to 1,500 locations across the Netherlands. By working with such collection points, Mondial Relay believes it can be a sustainable and efficient alternative for existing parcel delivery companies.

Mondial Relay wants to grow to 1,500 locations

Mondial Relay says the expansion to the Netherlands is twofold. On the one hand, ecommerce is growing even faster here than in Belgium or France, for example. And on the other hand, the number of international shipments from the Netherlands is increasing: cross-border parcel traffic increased by almost 42 percent last year.

Fast shipping in Europe

Mondial Relay already has a distribution network in Europe with 58 thousand collection points. It therefore claims to be able to ship quickly and cheaply to Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal and Luxembourg. Among its clients are well-known brands such as Vinted, Asos, Amazon, Yves Rocher, Decathlon and eBay.
