PostNord: ‘lockers need more visibility in checkout’
Online seller of sports nutrition supplements, THG Myprotein, has recently partnered with PostNord. By doing so, the retailer could add more flexible delivery options to its online store, which strengthened its position in the Nordics. It turns out that parcel lockers became a popular delivery option, when it is given enough visibility in the checkout process.
PostNord is the Swedish-Danish postal Group – the leading logistics provider in the Nordics, combining deep regional expertise with a strong global network to support businesses of all sizes.
Nordic consumers want to select pickup locations
According to previous research by PostNord, parcel lockers are gaining popularity in the Nordics. In Finland, for example, it is already the most common delivery method with a share of 37 percent. And around 77 percent of Nordic consumers say that the ability to choose a pickup location determines where they shop online. In Denmark and Finland, especially, younger consumers are driving the higher use of parcel lockers.
‘Lockers became far more successful once they were a separation option in checkout’
PostNord states that currently, checkout design in many online stores hides lockers or service points as delivery option. “In the THG Myprotein case, lockers became far more successful once they were presented as a separate option in checkout and supported by PostNord’s strongest locker network in Denmark. This gave customers more choice and lifted both conversion and satisfaction”, explains a spokesperson of the company.
Focus on service point options
The postal Group says that it is continuing its focus on parcel lockers and delivery points, and giving retailers more delivery options in their checkout. PostNord is also collaborating with HubBox, which offers a pickup-at-checkout selector, which integrates with ecommerce software platforms. This means that customers can select lockers or service points on a map.
‘Blueprint for retailers’
“The Myprotein case offers a clear blueprint. By partnering with PostNord, retailers can access the Nordics’ most extensive parcel network, benefit from easy checkout solutions, and meet the expectations of some of Europe’s most digitally advanced and cross-border-oriented consumers.”
