Webgallerian, an online marketplace from Sweden, has relaunched this year. The goal is still the same: to bring together hundreds of online stores under one single roof and to become the biggest online marketplace in the Nordic region.
The online marketplace has started in Sweden, but hopes to expand geographically quite rapidly. “Our platform is easy to use and easily scalable for new markets. We want to be the Amazon or Alibaba in the Nordics and our concept – focus on smaller and medium sized online stores – is quite unique”, says Ingemar Gleissman, founder and CEO of Webgallerian.
Using the platform, customers can find online stores, benefit from loyalty programs and use a single checkout point for purchases. Also, when something happens in a customer-selected store, Webgallerian will send a newsletter directly to the customer about this. Customers can also easily share what they have bought, create their own list of favorite products, create their own shopping mall and read reviews of products they are interested in.
Whereas many online marketplaces want to reach the larger companies, Webgallerian instead focuses on those that are a little smaller. “The stores in Webgallerian receive an attractive marketing and sales channel, as well as assistance with payments and logistics”, Gleissman adds. Currently, ther are over 140 online stores from Sweden that have signed up at Webgallerian. Together they offer more than 425,000 products.
Webgallerian conducts rights issue
Together with the relaunch, the company conducts a rights issue of up to 10 million Swedish kronor (about 1 million euros) aimed at local investors. “Online market places like Amazon, Alibaba and JD.com have become very successful globally, and very sought after amongst investors”, Gleissman says. “In the Nordics, there are still only a very limited number of true online market places, and we hope to rapidly gain the leading position in the region with our platform.”
