Zalando is ready to conquer the Nordic region. The online fashion platform successfully completed its location search and will open its first Nordic fulfillment center in Sweden later this year. The fulfillment center will be built in Brunna, near Stockholm, and is meant to meet the demand of its customers in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.

The Danish company Traede, which offers a B2B sales system for brands, has received 3.5 million Danish kroner (about 470,000 euros) in funding from SEED Capital, the country's largest early stage venture fund. Previously it received about 400,000 euros from Markedsmodningsfonden.

The ecommerce industry in the Nordic region was worth 21.9 billion euros in 2016. The biggest share of online retail revenue in this region comes from Sweden, which generated 8.5 billion euros last year. But Norwegians scored the highest monthly amount spent per person.

Event organizer Shoptalk announced it secured 2 million dollars (€1.86 million) in venture capital funding to support the launch of its first European ecommerce event, Shoptalk Europe. The company also announced the first group of speakers for the event that takes place in Copenhagen from October 9 until October 11.

Komplett.no, the biggest online retailer in Norway, will launch its own marketplace where other retailers can sell their products. The company is slowly transforming from being an online shop to an ecommerce marketplace and is aiming to become the Amazon of the Nordics.

Total Retail, the ecommerce event of Danish ecommerce association Foreningen for Dansk Internet Handel, will cease to operate. Members of FDIH will instead be invited to attend Shoptalk Europe, a large ecommerce event which will be held in Copenhagen on 9, 10 and 11 October.

Anders Holch Povlsen, the sole owner of Danish online retailer Bestseller, has invested a double-digit million-euro sum in Miinto Group, a Danish platform that hosts 20,000 brands on one online platform. Most of the investment will be used for creating more awareness and for developing on new digital solutions.

Vente-privee keeps on expanding in Europe by buying competitive websites that also offer private sales online. The French company now acquired, through its subsidiary Vente-Exclusive.com, the Danish ecommerce website Designers & Friends. With the acquisition, Vente-privee wants to strengthen its position in Scandinavia.

Ecommerce in Denmark was worth over 100 billion Danish kroner (13.44 billion euros) for the first time ever. The online retail industry in Denmark now accounts for approximately 10 percent of the total retail turnover.

Clerk.io, a Danish SaaS startup that helps online shops increase sales and retention, is expanding rapidly throughout Europe. The software company has already established itself in Europe, primarily in the UK, the Netherlands and Italy, but wants to expand to Germany and France as well.

Bloomon, a Dutch company that sells fresh flowers online on a subscription basis, has expended its territory to Denmark. Now people of this Nordic country can choose between a small, medium or large bouquet of flowers and get it delivered to their homes weekly, every fortnight or monthly until they no longer want to use the service.

DHL has joined forces with the Finnish postal operator Posti and Bring, a subsidiary of Norwegian postal operator Posten Norge. Together they offer a B2C infrastructure for parcel deliveries across Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltic states. With 6,500 parcel shops and parcel stations across seven countries it will be the largest parcel network in northern Europe.

Consumers in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark have purchased goods online worth a total of 17.39 billion euros in 2015. That's an increase of around 15 percent compared to the year before. Four out of ten Nordic residents bought goods online from foreign websites, spending a total of about 4.3 billion euros across the border.

Outfittery has expanded its service throughout Europe by offering a free pick-up service. This will make it even easier for customers to return items they don't like: Outfittery will pick up the items at the customer's home without asking any fee for it.

PostNord Denmark announced it entered into a new collaboration with Alibaba Group. As a result online retailers in the Nordics should reach Chinese consumers easier and cheaper than before. And in turn, parcel volumes from the Nordics to China will increase, the postal operator says.
