These are the winners of the Retail Systems Awards

The Retail Systems Awards were handed out last night in London and there are some happy ecommerce players now. House of Fraser was rewarded with awards for best mobile retailer and best retailer, while Shop Direct was announced as best online retailer of the year.

The Retail Systems Awards, handed out for the tenth time now, recognize technology excellence and innovation within the retail industry. It’s organized by Retail Systems, a technology website for the UK retail sector. On its website, Retail Systems has listed the winners and said a full review of the event night, which took place at the Marriott Hotel in London, will appear online next week.

As said, the retailer of the year, according to an independent judging panel, was British department store House of Fraser. It also got announced as the best mobile retailer of the year. Best online retailer happened to be online fashion retailer Shop Direct, while Better Bathrooms won an award for best retail website of the year, after ecommerce expert Space48 re-platformed the site from a bespoke ecommerce solution to Magento Enterprise.

Spar UK won a prize for best card and payments solution of the year. The supermarket’s payments-as-a-service platform was provided by Verifone to overcome their payment challenges. The online technology vendor of the year is Mirakl, a provider of online marketplace technology. The company’s CEO, Adrien Nussenbaum, thinks 2015 has been the year online marketplaces have really come of age in the retail industry. And for the company, it was a good year, he says. “Not only have we confirmed deals with some of the world’s biggest retailers, but we have closed a funding round of 20 million dollars and now won one of the industry’s most prestigious awards for our online marketplace technology. We have even bigger plans for 2016 and winning this Retail Systems award gives us the ideal platform to go forward and meet our goals.”
