Zalando expands Beauty to the Netherlands

Zalando will expand its Beauty assortment to the Netherlands. On the 28th of August, Dutch consumers will be able to buy over 8,500 different beauty products from more than 200 brands at Zalando.

The assortment will include products from popular brands such as Topshop, Maybelline, NYX, Ouai and Face Stockholm. The Netherlands will be the ninth market where Zalando sells beauty products online. The German ecommerce company sees it as a mission to become not only Europe’s starting point for fashion, but also for lifestyle.

Zalando’s Beauty expanded across Europe

In March of 2018, Germany was the first market where Zalando launched its Beauty assortment. Since then, the company expanded this to other European markets, including Belgium, France, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Denmark and Poland.

“The online beauty sector show an excellent growth in the Netherlands”, Kenneth Melchior, Director Northern Europe at Zalando, comments. “This offers a huge opportunity for Zalando to answer the Dutch demand, while it brings us closer to becoming the starting point for fashion in the Netherlands.”

‘Beauty and fashion go hand in hand’

According to Zalando, three out of five customers buy fashion products while they are shopping for beauty items. For them, this confirms these two product categories go hand in hand and that beauty products can be an important  lever for cross-selling opportunities.
