Zalando sells textile masks

Today, Zalando has started the online sales of textile masks in Europe. The disposable masks are sold at an affordable price in all 17 markets and the profit will go to international efforts against the coronavirus.

Zalando isn’t the only fashion player that has started selling textile masks online. Earlier this month, About You offered textile makeshift masks at cost price. Now, Zalando joins the initiative to offer consumers the opportunity to get their hands on masks, as people are increasingly recommended or enforced to wear them in public.

‘Masks help people protect others around them’

“Thanks to the company’s network of partners and its private label production, Zalando is able to offer non-medical masks for sale from today”, the company explains. “We believe that everyone should have access to a mask. Providing affordable textile masks will help people to protect others around them and preserve medical masks for health care professionals. We are very pleased to donate the profit generated from the sales of the textile masks to international efforts against the coronavirus via humedica”, says Kate Heiny, Director Sustainability at Zalando.

More designs coming soon

The non-medical masks are sold at a price range starting from one euro each. There are a few designs and Zalando says it will increase the assortment with more designs over the course of the coming weeks.
