Douglas has won an award during the annual Internet World Business Shop Awards show earlier this week. The German perfume and cosmetics retailer went home with an award for being the best multichannel retailer. Other winners are About You, Borussia Dortmund and Winekiki.
On Monday evening, hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich was the place where about 200 guests had gathered for the sixth Internet World Business Shop Awards. In the first category, Best Online Pure Player, the 11-member jury had to choose between the rivals Zalando and About You, a fashion startup from the Otto Group. Both companies, who regularly met with each other at previous Shop Award editions, were head-to-head in front of the third-placed ATP Autoteile.

Ultimately, About You won the award. And it may be the last time the Otto company will compete with Zalando in this category, as Zalando purchased stationary chain Kickz recently and thus becomes a potential candidate for the category Best Multichannel Retailer’.

That category was won by perfumery chain Douglas. The company ended second last year, but now switched placed with Rewe, the winner of 2016. The third place went to Mobilcom-Debitel, which convinced with their cross-channel shopping carts, Internet World writes.
Best Brand Shop
In the category Best Brand Shop, the award was for soccer club BVB Dortmund, which “translated the atmosphere in the stadium up to the checkout page”. Mammut and Gourmetfleisch ended second and third.
This year, there was also a new category, called Hidden Champion. With this category, the organization wants to honor the lesser-known online stores that convince with innovative ideas special features, despite the smaller budgets. The undisputed winner according to Internet World was online wine store Winekiki, thanks to its self-developed tool Aroma Scope. Calmwaters and influencer commerce-platform Stilnest ranked second and third.
