Royal Design Group acquires Danish AndLight

Royal Design Group, the Swedish interior design company, has acquired Danish design retailer AndLight. With the takeover, Royal Design enters the lighting segment. AndLight currently operates in no less than 17 markets across Europe.

Royal Design is a large interior design retailer in the Nordics and Europe, generating 125 million euros in revenue last year. The company was taken over by Nordic media group Egmont only two years ago. AndLight is a leading online seller of designer lamps, furniture and home accessories across Europe.

Royal Design enters lighting segment

AndLight will continue as an entity under the Royal Design Group, which also owns RoyalDesign and Rum21, another Swedish furniture retailer. The takeover also marks Royal Design’s entry into the lighting segment.

17 European markets, 9 localized online shops

Danish design retailer AndLight is currently active in 17 European markets. Aside from home country Denmark, the company has localized online stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, Austria, Poland, France and the United Kingdom.

‘Ecommerce branch more than doubled by 2025’

Only two years ago, Royal Design Group was taken over by Nordic media group Egmont. The new mother company owns 9 Nordic ecommerce brands in niche areas, such as interior design.

The Egmont group has seen ‘a very high growth in ecommerce’ in recent years, according to Managing Director for E-commerce Cato Broberg. The company expects to more than double their ecommerce branch by 2025 compared to 2020, Broberg says in the company’s press release.
