Shoptalk Europe secures €1.86 million for its event

Event organizer Shoptalk announced it secured 2 million dollars (€1.86 million) in venture capital funding to support the launch of its first European ecommerce event, Shoptalk Europe. The company also announced the first group of speakers for the event that takes place in Copenhagen from October 9 until October 11.

The investment was led by Primary Venture Partners and includes participation from Commerce Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures and New Enterprise Associates. It’s not the first time the company secures money, the total funding raised by Shoptalk now exceeds 4.68 million euros.

Speakers represent established retailers and startups

Aside from the funding news, the organization also confirmed some speakers. According to Shoptalk, these speakers represent established retailers as well as startups. During the three-day event, there will be keynotes from CEO’s, founders and other executives from companies such as IKEA, Pinterest, Tesco, Hudson’s Bay Company, Google, Harrods and Lesara.

In October, it will be the first time Shoptalk Europe is being organized. It is already held annually in the US and now the company wants to do the same in Europe. And the organization behind the event is serious about making the first European edition one of many to come. The Danish ecommerce association FDIH even stopped its own event and invited members to attend Shoptalk Europe instead.
