Belgian retailers launch shopping event Belgian Friday

Five online retailers from Belgium have created a new shopping event, called Belgian Friday. According to the organizers, this day is meant as a local answer to Black Friday. Belgian Friday will take place this Friday and the discounts last until the Monday after Pentecost, which is an official holiday in many European countries.

It’s becoming a trend: a group of local online retailer who create a shopping event, because they want to have a national answer to the international shopping event Black Friday. Last month, French online retailers launched ‘French Days‘, which lasted from 27 April until 1 May.

Discounts from Friday until Monday

And now it’s time for some Belgian online retailers to have their own online shopping event. This Friday, online retailers La Redoute, Veritas, Sarenza, Kiabi, Jack & Jones and Tape à l’Oeil will launch Belgian Friday, a day on which customers can enjoy various discounts. But these discounts will also be valid during the weekend and next Monday.

The organization claims the initiative is in line with the new consumer habits in Belgium. “This way, a public that’s not necessarily accustomed to shopping online can benefit from substantial discounts on seasonal products, but also become familiar with online shopping.”

According to FashionUnited, there are other online retailers who want to join the event, but nothing is sure for now.
