Dm rolls out click & collect in Germany

Dm is now offering its click & collect solution, called “Express-Abholung”, nationwide in Germany. In view of the corona pandemic, the drugstore operator expanded the service after just a short test phase.

Dm initially tested the click & collect solution in the Munich region, but now this service can be used at most branches across Germany. “Simply order online and pick it up in your DM store in six hours”, the company says on its website.

Online orders can be picked up in six hours.

In the fall of last year, Dm started the experiment with 54 branches in Munich offering the service, which – as Lebensmittel Zeitung knows – was then known as ‘Marktabholung Express’. During that test phase, goods could be picked up even four hours after the online order took place.

Nationwide rollout after coronavirus measures

“With very few exceptions, almost all of our 2011 stores in Germany now offer this new service”, Dm explains. The nationwide rollout is not only because of a successful test in Munich, but also because of the coronavirus. “After it became clear that the measure to combat the spread of the coronavirus would limit the stationary retail and the online order would increase extraordinarily, we decided to offer this service across Germany.”

No cash payment allowed

Online purchases that Dm customers collect through this service can be paid using PayPal, credit card and Paydirekt. Cash payment in the shop isn’t available with the click & collect service. The service costs 2.95 euros, but for registered users it’s free.
