DPDgroup acquires ecommerce parcels company WnDirect

DPDgroup, the second largest international parcel delivery network in Europe, has taken full control of Wndirect, a global ecommerce parcels company. DPDgroup already was a shareholder in WnDirect for a couple of years, but has now acquired the logistics company.

The acquisition happened at the end of last year and according to the press release, the consolidated group will have the scale and infrastructure to be able to expedite their development plans. DPDgroup is securing new major partnerships across the world and thanks to several new ecommerce services it created, the logistics company increased the number of B2C volumes coming in to Europe, especially from the USA and China.

WnDirect on the other hand saw its revenue increase by almost a multiple of four during the last five years, while its volume increased by over 60 percent year on year. WnDirect already works with DPDgroup businesses in Europe and helps DPD Direct by providing a network solution for this export product of DPDgroup.

Since the first of January, the two teams of WnDirect and DPDgroup Global Solutions in Paris are being led by Simon Batt. “I’m very excited to have this opportunity to pull together two great teams and to continue to develop market leading solutions to enable our customers’ international cross border strategies”, he commented.
