Payment by installment has become increasingly popular in France. It seems that 30 percent of French consumers have already resorted to installment payments.

Installment payments, in which a customer pays the bill in small portions throughout a fixed period of time, are gaining market share in France.

30 percent of French consumers use installment payments

A survey carried out by Galitt among over 750 French consumers shows the used payment methods when shopping online in France. The Payment & Digital Barometer shows that 56 percent use PayPal, 30 percent use installment payments and 29 percent use a “buy now pay later” solution.

Among the share of French people who pay in installments, about eight in ten do this without credit, four in ten do it with credit and 20 percent use both.

French who use split payments are often customers of online-only banks.

And according to the study, the French people who use split payments the most are often customers of online-only banks, hold a card with systematic authorization, are fans of new payment methods and are aged 35 years or younger.
