Yodel launches 7-day service and Inflight

UK parcel carrier Yodel will launch a seven-day service next spring. It has also launched Inflight, a new feature that allows customers to change delivery options using the Yodel app, even when the parcel is one hour from being delivered.

Neil Ashworth, CCO of Yodel, spoke during the InternetRetailing Conference and said the 7-day service is still being shaped thanks to customer insight. “I’m not saying much as we are still listening to customers but we will build something that works for customers rather than what works for us as a delivery organization.”

Change delivery instructions

Yodel announced the launch of Inflight this week. The feature will be rolled out in full next year and allows customers to change delivery instructions up to an hour before the delivery is due. The Inflight feature works with the Xpect service of Yodel, which already providers customers with a two-hour delivery window.

“The launch of Inflight is an exciting milestone for the business and reflects our ongoing commitment to improving our service and the customer experience”, Ashworth commented. “Inflight offers customers greater flexibility than ever before and is designed to meet the needs of our increasingly busy lifestyles. We are providing functionality that offers customers control of when and where they can receive their delivery.”

Redirect package to CollectPlus Point

One of these functionalities is the option to redirect packages to one of over 7,000 CollectPlus Points across the United Kingdom. Of course, Inflight is not only set up to help customers, it will also benefit Yodel, as it will increase the rate of delivery success on the first attempt and lower the number of calls into their contact center.
