Zalando lets customers put Hermes on a black list

Hermes has become the second logistics partner for Zalando in Germany, but this logistics company isn’t a success with all Zalando customers. That’s why the German fashion retailer offers customers, who absolutely don’t want their packages to be delivered by Hermes, the opportunity to put Hermes on a black list. These customers will be helped by DHL.

The delivery of Zalando packages within Germany was always done by DHL. But now the online fashion retailer has a second logistics partner, Hermes. Hermes was already available for customers in Germany who wanted to return their items to Zalando, but now it will also send packages to customer’s homes or its parcel shops.

Exciting Commerce now wrote a piece about how Zalando deals with customers who are not a fan of Hermes. Zalando tries to meet the needs of customers by letting them put Hermes on a black list. But whenever a delivery via Hermes is quicker than via DHL, Zalando tries to offer Hermes as an option to customers who are still in doubt. But Zalando itself is in a quandary here, as Hermes delivers cheaper than DHL.

Hermes and Zalando, partners in Europe

Hermes is already Zalando’s logistics partner in other European countries. In Austria it handles the retailer’s shipments since 2013 and in the United Kingdom Hermes is an official Zalando partner since 2015.
