Zalando tests free collection of returns in Vienna

Zalando customers who don’t want to take their returns to the post office, can now have them picked up at their home by a courier service for free. The German online fashion retailer has just started this pilot project in Vienna.

Zalando has started the pilot project in collaboration with German courier company Liefery and logistics service provider Hermes, also from Germany. Customers who want to make use of this new service that is valid from Monday to Saturday, need to make an appointment online.

Evening collection or immediate pickup
There are two options available: evening collection, which means that on the preferred date a courier will get the item between 19:00 and 21:00. The exact date can be set up to five days in advance. Until 17:00 the customer can even instruct the courier to pick up his items for that same evening.

And the second option is immediate collection. Between 08:00 and 19:00 a customer can have a courier to pick up his items within 90 minutes of making the appointment. The latest booking time for same-day pickup is 17:00.

The collection appointment can be booked at a dedicated page on the Liefery website. For now, while it’s still a pilot project, the service is free. According to Zalando, similar services have already been succesfully tested in Cologne, Berlin and Dusseldorf as well as in Amsterdam.
