Polish online grocer Alma24 offers cooled click & collect service

Alma24.pl, a major online grocery retailer in Poland, now enables its customers to collect their shopping in special cooling terminals, which are located within the premises of Statoil fuel stations. Alma24.pl can offer this thanks to a partnership with Coolomat, a Polish manufacturer of cooling devices for online shopping.

The Coolomats, as the cooling terminals are called by the eponymous company, make it possible for consumers to collect the groceries they purchased online whenever they want, without having to worry about melting foods.

The cooled click & collect service from Alma24.pl is currently only available for customers living in Warsaw, Poland’s capital and the largest city of the country. So far, Coolomat has launched five devices of this specific type of cooling terminals. “Our plan calls for several networks of Coolomat devices in the largest Polish cities, Kraków, Katowice, Poznań, Łódź, Szczecin and Tricity, as well as expansion into foreign markets”, chairman Marcin Warzocha says “Although it’s an innovation solution on a European scale, it’s up to our customers to decide how and where we will develop our network of devices.”

The devices comprise of at least 35 lockers, out of which 21 are suitable for storing products in a temperature down to -20°C. “By using such a device, retailers have the opportunity to deliver a great many orders to one location simultaneously, which in turn makes it possible to decrease the indirect logistics costs ten times”, Warzocha explains.
