Amazon invests over 300 million euros in Germany

Ecommerce giant Amazon has announced that it is expanding its logistics center in Pforzheim, Germany. It is investing more than 300 million euros in order to double its workforce there by the end of 2029. The expansion also involves a change in the type of warehouse.

Online marketplace Amazon has recently announced other investments in Europe as well. In May, the company announced that it is investing 15 billion euros in France over a three-year period. And by the end of 2027, the company wants to have invested 40 billion British pounds in the United Kingdom. Over the course of 2025, it already invested more than 17 billion euros (15 billion British pounds) in the country.

Renovating a logistics center

Now, the company has announced an investment in its logistics center in Pforzheim, in southwestern Germany. The warehouse currently stores medium-sized items, like diaper packs or game consoles. The center is going to be renovated to store small to medium-sized items, from USB sticks to irons, according to a spokesperson of Amazon.

The renewed location will be able to store around 20 million items

The location will store around 20 million items, after renovating. Amazon is also investing in hundreds of transport robots for the warehouse, which will bring mobile shelves to employees. This saves time and effort.

Doubling workforce in the next 3 years

“We want to be a good neighbor in the region – with attractive jobs, career prospects for employees, and a commitment to local economic development”, said the spokesperson. Over 1,000 people work at the site, but this will be expanded to more than 2,000 employees within the next three years. According to Amazon, all existing jobs at the location will be retained during the renovation period.
