Bol.com: €2.1 billion online sales in 2018

Dutch online retailer Bol.com reported net consumer online sales worth 2.1 billion euros in 2018. That’s an increase of 31.25 percent compared to the situation in 2017, when Bol.com generated net consumer sales worth 1.6 billion euros.

Holding company Ahold Delhaize presented these numbers in their trading statement [pdf] for the fourth quarter and full year 2018. In the fourth quarter of last year, the online retailer saw its online sales increase with 32.3 percent compared to the same period one year before.

Bol.com Partner Platform

For the full year, Bol.com generated online sales worth 2.1 billion euros. This figure not only includes the sales of products that Bol.com sells itself, but also the sales of external vendors that have joined the Bol.com Partner Platform. That group is increasingly shaping the growth and revenue of Bol.com, which started as an online retailer in 1999 but is more and more becoming an online marketplace platform for other retailer to sell their products from.

One of the signs Bol.com is relying increasingly on external vendors is the complete redesign of its partner platform. To better serve these group of retailers, Bol.com connects them with services from other companies.

New office in Belgium for partner retailers

In Belgium, Bol.com will even open an office for Belgian partners. The new office should open this May and is meant to support and advise retailers that want to sell their products through the Bol.com Partner Platform.
