iDeal of Sweden expands to 30 new markets

iDeal of Sweden is expecting to double its revenue this year and is now investing heavily in its ecommerce operations. The smartphone accessories retailer has move to a new ecommerce platform and is ready to open business in over 30 new markets.

iDeal of Sweden was founded in 2013 and generated a turnover of 45 million euros last year. For this year, the retailer is expecting to reach 100 million euros of revenue. Most of that money should come from their new ecommerce website, in which they heavily invested.

From Woocommerce to Centra

The previous ecommerce website ran on Woocommerce, but is now making use of Centra, a Swedish ecommerce platform that wants to expand internationally. As a result from the new ecommerce website, the online store of iDeal of Sweden has a new design, an improved technical architecture with support for fast implementation on new marketing, languages, currencies, warehouses and more.

‘Launching stores on new markets is very complex’

The Swedish phone case brand is now better able to scale up its ecommerce operations. The idea is to be active in some 30 new markets later this year. “To launch stores on new markets is very complex when you’re dealing with the high amount of traffic and volume of orders as we do. Currencies, warehouse logistics, individual content management per market and pricing need to seamlessly work together from one platform”, CEO Joachim Lindström says.

Expansion of ecommerce team

Aside from the international expansion, iDeal of Sweden is also expanding its ecommerce team. Currently, the company from Sweden recruits three or four new positions every month. As of today, the team consists of 85 people, but is forecast to grow to over 130 employees by the end of this year.

Opening physical retail stores

“Our strategy is to have about half of our revenue streams from our own ecommerce channels. We are aggressively recruiting to be able to match our growth-rate and meet the new demands that emerge as we continue to grow. The team will also work towards implementing omni-channel solutions as we open up physical retail stores abroad on international markets”, Lindström adds.
