Instabox plans to leave Germany

Parcel delivery service Instabox is discontinuing its services in Germany. According to the company, its volumes in the market are not high enough to sustain its operations. Just a year ago, the company already went bankrupt in the Netherlands.

Possible future return

This was announced by the company on LinkedIn. It will gradually wind down its operations in Germany until the end of October. Starting in November, the company will no longer be active in the German market. Instabox’s parent company, Instabee, expresses hope that conditions will improve, allowing the company to consider a return in the future.

“We remain hopeful that circumstances will allow Instabee to make a return in the future.”

“We recognize the immense potential of the German market and remain optimistic about the relevance of our services there. While we are taking this pause, we remain hopeful that circumstances will allow Instabee to make a return in the future”, it said.

Merger Instabox and Budbee

The departure from Germany comes about a year after Instabox went bankrupt in The Netherlands, with DHL later taking over the assets of the company in The Netherlands. Just before that, in September 2022, delivery companies Instabox and Budbee announced their merger, resulting in a new company called Instabee.

“The departure from Germany comes about a year after Instabox went bankrupt in The Netherlands.”

Additionally, Instabee has announced that co-founder Fredrik Hamilton is stepping down as CEO. The other co-founder, Alexis Priftis, will resume his responsibilities.
