Jewelry marketplace Katchin expands across Europe

Katchin, a marketplace for jewelry, watches, and accessories, has launched in Germany and France. This expansion follows its launch in the UK earlier this year. Katchin is a venture by the Fossil Group. It operates on Mirakl’s marketplace software.

“Katchin brings together the most sought-after names in a convenient one-stop-shop, offering curated content and how-to style guides to showcase the marketplace’s extensive collection of styles and brands,” the newcomer promised during its UK launch in January.

Sales potential

According to general manager Shelly Gardner, Katchin has had some successful initial months. The Fossil Group sees significant sales potential on the European mainland due to the segment’s growth, estimated at 5 to 7 percent annually by Euromonitor.

Gardner stated: “Earlier this year, Katchin transformed the online shopping experience by launching the first-ever marketplace created specifically for jewelry and watches in the UK.” It is now capitalizing on the success of the first market launch, according to the general manager.

“I’m excited to formally announce our expansion into Germany and France.”

Content-driven approach

From its inception, Katchin has prioritized content. The platform features the origin stories of brands and a continually evolving range of curated style edits, how-to inspiration, and gift guides. Users can explore the product range through extensive category filters, including stone type, material, and a variety of watch movement types. The brand lineup includes names such as Emporio Armani, Otazu, Roberto Cavalli, Sif Jakobs, Festina, and Rotary, encompassing both established and emerging brands.

Fossil Group

Katchin is an initiative by the listed US manufacturer Fossil Group. According to Chief Digital Officer Holly Briedis, the dedicated category marketplace fulfills a need, stating: “The platform enables product discovery in a way that seems to be missing in the marketplace today – inspired, contextualized, and ‘built for’ these categories.” Following the expansion across Europe, Katchin has set sights on North America, with a launch planned in 2024.
