Zalando Beauty launches in Switzerland
Zalando will launch its beauty category in Switzerland on the 11th of December, giving its Swiss customers the opportunity to complete their outfits with matching cosmetics. The introduction of its beauty category in Switzerland follows after launches in several other European markets, including the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark.

The launch on the 11th of December is, of course, no coincidence. It’s just in time for the holidays. The new category will feature over 4,000 products from more than 110 brands for both men and women.
Zalando Beauty across Europe
Switzerland is certainly not the first market in Europe where Amazon will launch its beauty category. In March last year, this assortment expansion started in Germany with the sales of just women products. Half a year later, products for men were added. And at the end of 2018, Zalando Beauty also launched in Poland and Austria. In March of this year, it expanded to Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and France.
Lisa Miczaika, VP Central Europe at Zalando, looks forward to the launch. “The cosmetics market in Switzerland is growing year by year, with personal care products being the category for which Swiss customers spend most of their money”, she explains. “Currently, however, only 21 percent of the cosmetics and personal care market in Switzerland are online. For Zalando this is a great opportunity to respond to the needs of Swiss customers and become their starting point for fashion and lifestyle.”

According to Zalando, already established Zalando Beauty markets show that both categories (fashion and beauty) go hand in hand, with three out of five customers supplementing their beauty shopping with fashion items.
