Online retailer Bol.com was awarded with a prize for best online store in the Netherlands. The Ahold-owned ecommerce player won this award during the annual Thuiswinkel Awards Gala, a popular event which honors the best ecommerce players in the Dutch retail industry.
The Thuiswinkel Awards were handed out yesterday, now for the fifteenth time. Last year it was multichannel player Coolblue who went home with the award for best online store, but this time the honors were for Bol.com, the biggest online retailer in the Netherlands.
The award for best online store was one of the five awards that were handed out and decided by a professional jury. “We paid special attention to factual and compelling stories. Although it was difficult to make a choice, this year the winners have really managed to distinguish themselves from others”, jury chairman Arjen Bonsing said. “They have shown clearly why they are the best in their field at the moment. We, together with the whole ecommerce industry, should be proud of these winners.”
The award for best starter went to online supermarket Picnic, which only sells via a mobile app, and the award for best omnichannel player was for department store De Bijenkorf. The award for best cross-border initiative was for VidaXL and Blendle, “the iTunes for articles”, went home with an award for being the best game changer.
