Allegro enters partnership with OpenAI
Allegro has entered into a partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. The Polish ecommerce company will gain access to advanced AI technology and support in developing new solutions for its platform. Recently, Allegro also introduced an AI assistant for sellers.
Allegro and OpenAI will collaborate in designing, testing, and deploying applications tailored to ecommerce, the Polish online marketplace said. The partnership is expected to support Allegro’s ambition to simplify shopping, support sellers, improve marketing effectiveness, and accelerate the development of new products.
Allegro and AI
Allegro has been investing in artificial intelligence for some time, including through assistants for both buyers and sellers. The company introduced a virtual shopping assistant in its mobile app, similar to initiatives by Zalando and Amazon, while Benelux market leader bol is expected to launch a comparable solution soon. Allegro is also working with Google on an intelligent shopping assistant within the browser.
Allegro’s AI assistant for sellers is coming soon
Earlier this month, Allegro presented an AI assistant for selling partners in Las Vegas. The tool provides real-time insights, answers questions, explains quality scores, and identifies areas for improvement. This assistant for sellers is finishing its pilot phase and will be launched soon. New features will continue to be added, ranging from offer optimization and pricing to logistics support.
OpenAI collaboration
The collaboration with OpenAI is expected to accelerate these efforts. It includes the joint development of new AI use cases for ecommerce, support for implementation and optimization, as well as access to new models and features developed by OpenAI.
‘A new standard for the next generation’
According to Allegro, AI is fundamentally transforming how ecommerce operates. “We are confident that our approach will set a new standard for the next generation of commercial services in Europe”, said CEO Marcin Kuśmierz.
Flywheel
Allegro is the ecommerce market leader in Poland and describes itself as “the flywheel of the Polish economy”. The marketplace is also expanding beyond its home market, although earlier this year it sold its subsidiaries in Slovenia and Croatia to streamline its financial results. Meanwhile, runner-up Amazon is investing over 5 billion euros to strengthen its position in Poland.
