Galaxus launches in Italy

Swiss online department store Galaxus has launched in Italy. The company wants to grow a loyal customer base. It is the company’s newest expansion after previous launches in Germany, Austria and France.

Galaxus is a well-known player in ecommerce in Switzerland, as it generated sales of 2.42 billion euros in 2022 there. Since 2021, it is also active in Austria. Its most recent launch was a week ago, in France.

Selection of products available in Italy

The company is now selling a selection of its product range to Italian consumers, which it will expand rapidly. The online department store had already been communicating in Italian for years, as Swiss customers in Ticino also speak Italian. Launching an Italian online store is therefore not a very big step for the company.

‘Orders will be shipped from Germany.’

Orders placed in Italy will be delivered from the company’s logistics center in Krefeld in Germany. Because of that, consumers will need to wait three to five days for their orders.

‘Our concept works in competitive markets’

“Our online shopping concept is unique and works not only in Switzerland, but also in very competitive markets, like Germany. That is why we are convinced the discerning Italian customer base will, too, feel at ease on our platform”, says Florian Teuteberg, CEO and founding member of Digitec Galaxus.
