Momox enters the Netherlands

Second hand marketplace for media products Momox has expanded into the Netherlands. Dutch consumers can now sell their used books, CDs and DVDs on the platform. Momox is now active in six countries.

Momox is a platform for second hand sellers of books and other media products, like CDs, DVDs, and video games. It was founded in 2004, in Germany. In 2022, it entered Spain and Italy. It is also active in Austria and France.

Activities in the Netherlands

For the last couple of months, Momox was already selling to Dutch customers, through marketplaces like Amazon and Bol. According to the platform, the demand exceeded their expectations. Because of that, the company is now launching a dedicated Dutch website and app. As a result, consumers in the Netherlands can now sell their products on Momox as well.

“The positive response from the Netherlands highlights the potential of this market”, said Chief Growth Officer Mark Batty. Among other things, he pointed to Dutch reading culture and the widespread acceptance of second-hand products.

Sending used products

“Unlike many other product categories, books and media are highly individual. While English and German books are already in high demand in the Netherlands, building a local supply means we can also keep more Dutch-language books in circulation. That’s why local supply matters. The more books and media we source locally, the more unique titles we can give a second life”, said the company in a LinkedIn post.

Consumers can scan the barcode of their products on the website or in the app. After that, they will receive an offer straight away. If they accept the price, they can send the items free of charge via DHL or PostNL to Momox. After the platform receives the items and does a quality check, customers will receive their payment.
