Octopia launches its retail media solution
French marketplace solution provider Octopia has launched a new product, called Octopia Ads. It is the company’s own retail media solution. It enables retailers to implement a sponsored search solution for their products (1P) and sellers and brands products (3P).
Octopia is a solution for ecommerce businesses looking to launch a new marketplace, boost an existing one, sell on multiple marketplaces, or outsource logistics. According to the company, it generates 50 percent of its business internationally. It has more than 30 clients across 11 different countries.
The company offers access to a qualified catalogue of 15K sellers and 80 million products, and fulfillment solutions. In 2023, Octopia expanded its business to the UK. With a brand-new warehouse and office in the UK, the company signed its first marketplace client Onbuy.
Sponsored products on marketplaces
Last month, IAB Europe released a set of measurement standards for retail media in Europe. Retail media is still a relatively new phenomenon. It entails advertising space for retailers. Marketplaces like Amazon and the French ecommerce leader Cdiscount often sell ad spaces in their product search results.
‘Sponsored products can increase a brand’s sales by an average of 30%’
According to research by NielsenIQ, sponsored products can increase a brand’s sales by an average of 30 percent. As online shoppers often start their search on marketplaces, it can be of significant help to brands and sellers if they bring these products to the attention of marketplace customers.
Managing paid visibility in one place
With Octopia Ads, sellers and brands can manage their paid visibility on marketplaces, optimizing their sales efforts with targeted advertising. Sellers can set their own budgets with target CPCs (costs per click) and target ROAS (returns on ad spend). The solution can be integrated with marketplaces. By doing so, the solution helps sellers automate retail media campaigns. This saves sellers time, as they usually offer several hundred products and do not have the time to fine-tune their campaigns.
‘Thanks to automated ad campaigns, sellers can now promote products with little manual input.’
“Octopia Ads was created to allow retailers and sellers to run self-managed campaigns. Thanks to automated ad campaigns, sellers and brands can now promote their products on marketplaces with little manual input”, shares Marina Prevosto, Growth and Marketing Director at Octopia.
Ambitions this year
In 2024, the company wants to successfully roll out the new solution, securing additional clients in Europe. It also wants Octopia Ads to become a key player in the retail media space, specifically tailored to marketplaces.
