Sneaker marketplace Laced expands into Europe

Online luxury sneaker marketplace Laced is expanding into Europe, with dedicated language websites for several countries. The United Kingdom-based company is first expanding to Germany and France. It is also planning to launch in Italy and the Netherlands at a later stage.

Laced is an online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of rare, exclusive sneakers and luxury goods. It authenticates goods and offers same-day order processing, seven-day-a-week deliveries and same-day-as-sale payouts. It was founded in 2018.

17 million dollars in funding

In May this year, the London-based company raised 12 million dollars in a Series A funding. This brought the total funding secured by the company up to 17 million dollars. At the time, it already announced that it would use the capital injection to expand internationally.

Laced will grow its staff numbers by 25%.

With the launch of new dedicated websites in German and French, the expansion into other European countries has started. Dutch and Italian versions will be launched later on. According to Laced, it will grow its staff numbers by 25 percent to accommodate the expansion.

‘Same product library in Europe’

“Half a decade after launching in the United Kingdom, and having become the most trusted resale site in the country, it is with immense pride that we are now expanding into Europe, offering our same great authentication processes, product library and customer service to European buyers and sellers”, said Chris Gibbons, founder and CEO.

‘Through the expansion, we will get more genuine items in the hands of more customers.’

“At the heart of the Laced platform and mission lies our belief that everyone, wherever they are, should be able to go online, purchase luxury goods and have them delivered to their door in the easiest way possible. Expansion into Europe means we will be putting more genuine items in the hands of more customers, which has been our goal from the very start.”
