Swedish startup Brink raises €844,000

Swedish startup Brink has raised 1 million dollars (844,000 euros) to further develop its ecommerce platform. The money was raised in a first investment round, ahead of the company’s launch. Over the past two years, Brink has operated in stealth mode building a headless ecommerce platform with open APIs.

The founder and CEO of Brink is Swedish entrepreneur Kristian Tysander, brother of Filip Tysander, the founder of watch brand Daniel Wellington. When Kristian was CTO of the watch company, he tested several ecommerce software platforms and none of them could handle the company’s massive growth.

Brink wants to improve the offer

This led to him coming up with his own solution and founding Daniel Wellington Technologies. After the merger of the two companies, Kristian decided to pursue this market opportunity. He was joined by Patrik Antonsson and Marcus Ljungberg. The three men set out to create a company to improve the offer and better meet the requirements from online retailers nowadays.

‘It’s important to have systems scale globally’

“At Daniel Wellington, we experienced firsthand how important it is to have systems and infrastructure that scales globally, not just on paper but in reality”, Kristian explains. “After working over two years developing this new tool, we strongly believe our approach is the best practice for designing ecommerce platforms in the future. We see our serverless approach as the next natural step in the evolution of ecommerce platforms.”

Running in 70 data centers simultaneously

Brink Commerce is running in over 70 data centers in 21 countries simultaneously. “All data is synchronized globally, we have zero infrastructure and can adapt and move faster than any other competitor on the market. We have a unique position”, CTO Marcus Ljungberg says.
