Yoox adds secondhand fashion category

Fashion retailer Yoox is adding a secondhand category on its marketplace. The pre-owned category is available in nearly 30 European countries. Later this year, the marketplace is planned to launch in the United States and Middle East as well.

Yoox is part of Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP). The Richement-owned fashion group recently merged with competitor Farfetch after years of writing losses. At the start of this year, the company was also fined over 5 million euros by the Italian antitrust agency.

2,000 luxury items

Yoox’s marketplace was first launched in 2022 and is available in nearly 30 European countries. Now, the high-end platform is adding a category for secondhand fashion. Almost 2,000 luxury items are currently available under the label ‘Yoox pre-owned’. The secondhand offer on Yoox follows the launch of resale options on Net-a-Porter, Mr Porter and The Outnet last year, also owned by the YNAP Group.

‘Sustainability increasingly influences purchasing behaviour’

“We know that sustainability is an increasingly decisive element that influences the purchasing behaviour of our customers, who are concerned with how their purchases affect the world around them,” says Valentina Visconti Prasca, managing director at Yoox. “Yoox pre-owned is not only an opportunity for customers to buy special limited edition and vintage pieces from their favourite designers, it also empowers them to give pre-owned products a second life.”

Marketplace to enter US and Middle East this year

The Yoox marketplace has around 300 sellers that make up roughly 12 percent of all of Yoox’s products, Internet World writes. The marketplace is planned to expand to the United States and the Middle East later this year, including the new pre-owned offer.
