Amazon delivers groceries in France

Amazon will launch Amazon Prime Now grocery deliveries in France this year. Thanks to a partnership with French retailer Monoprix, a subsidiary of Casino Group, Prime Now customers will be able to order groceries sourced by Monoprix through the Prime Now app and website.

It’s not a shocker that Amazon will deliver groceries through Prime Now in France. Earlier this month, the US company confirmed it has plans to launch an online grocery service in this European country. But it was unknown which grocery store chains Amazon would partner with for this premium service.

Partnership with Monoprix

Monoprix announced it will start selling its products to customers in Paris through Amazon’s Prime Now service. The company says this partnership further differentiates and increases Monoprix’s position as urban omnichannel leader. ” Monoprix will benefit from the most comprehensive grocery delivery service in Paris”, chairman Régis Schultz commented.

Casino Groupe, Leclerc and Systeme U were all linked with Amazon during the last couple of months. “Everyone wanted to try and work with Amazon, but it’s Monoprix which has won the day”, Schultz told Europe 1 radio.

Amazon in France

Amazon has steadily been building its presence in France, where it launched its ecommerce website in 2000. Amazon Prime Now is available in Paris since 2016, and last month, the American ecommerce giant announced it will create 2,000 jobs in France this year.
