Lentiamo expands to the Netherlands

Eyewear retailer Lentiamo has expanded to a new market in Europe. The eyecare specialist has opened its online shop in the Netherlands, making this the 16th country where Lentiamo is present. Foreign markets currently account for 85 percent of the company’s revenues.

After the Czech company opened its first optician shop in the center of Prague this summer, the company is already looking to expand again. In the Netherlands, consumers can now buy contact lenses, sunglasses and other eye card products online.

Many lens wearers in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is one of the ten countries with the highest proportion of lens wearers in Europe, and we must not miss this opportunity”, CEO Jiří Urban explains. “Until now, the language was a barrier to entering the market. But now we have a Dutch-speaking country manager, right at our headquarters in Prague, so nothing can stop us now from doing business in the whole Benelux. Furthermore, thanks to our new team member, we will have Dutch as a second language alongside French in our Belgian online shop.”

Biggest competitors already active on Dutch market

Lentiamo.nl is live since 25 July. As Lentiamo puts it, its biggest competitors are already active on the Dutch market. “So, future customers will have to decide for themselves where to buy their lenses and sunglasses.” The company, founded in the Czech Republic, thinks the return from this investment will be effective within the next two years.

Eventually, Lentiamo wants to become the number one provider of eye care services in Europe, an ambition it also shared earlier this year. “We are considering entering other countries in the European Union, but we shall do so only when we’ll start selling prescription eyewear online”, Urban commented.
