Bol: turnover of almost 3 billion euros in 2023

Dutch online platform Bol has generated a turnover of 2.9 billion euros in 2023. This is a growth of 7.3 percent compared to a year earlier. Additionally, its GMV reached 5.8 billion euros, a growth of 4.9 percent.

The online marketplace’s year results were announced this week, by its parent company Ahold Delhaize. In 2022, Bol’s online sales decreased almost 3 percent compared to 2021. Its GMV also decreased in that year, with almost 2 percent.

Growth in 2023

But in 2023, the company seems to have achieved growth again. The turnover of 2.9 billion euros comes from sales by the platform itself, as well as sales by partner sellers. However, recent research showed that Bol is still the dominant seller on its own platform.

Bol reached an EBITDA of 151 million euros in 2023.

For the first time, Ahold Delhaize also shared Bol’s EBITDA. The marketplace reached an EBITDA of 151 million euros in 2023. According to the company, this is a growth of 21.5 percent compared to a year earlier.

Less sales in US next year

At the same time, the Ahold Delhaize Group itself has generated a total revenue of 88.7 billion euros. The Group expects a consistent performance year-over-year in 2024. However, it has also sold its platform FreshDirect. Because of that, the Group expects that net sales and online sales in the United States will be reduced by 600 million dollars next year.
