Ecommerce in Spain has increased with a year-on-year-growth of 20.3 percent during the second quarter of 2016. The online turnover was worth 5.95 billion euros during that period. Industries with the highest online revenue were travel agencies and tour operators, air transport and clothing.

A new mobile app, called AnyPlan, has been released which aims to make it easier for online retailers and other ecommerce professionals to meet others at ecommerce events and trade fairs. The app includes a database with over 4.000 trade shows around the world.

Maternia, the biggest contact lens retailer in the Czech Republic, has expanded its online reach in Europe. The company opened its online store in Belgium, which is now the 15th country in Europe where Maternia is active.

Total Retail, the ecommerce event of Danish ecommerce association Foreningen for Dansk Internet Handel, will cease to operate. Members of FDIH will instead be invited to attend Shoptalk Europe, a large ecommerce event which will be held in Copenhagen on 9, 10 and 11 October.

Car manufacturer Hyundai has launched it's so-called 'click to buy' website, which lets customers buy a new car from their computer or smartphone. According to the press release, it's the first time a car manufacturer offers its customers nationwide the opportunity to buy a car completely online.

DPDgroup, the second largest international parcel delivery network in Europe, has taken full control of Wndirect, a global ecommerce parcels company. DPDgroup already was a shareholder in WnDirect for a couple of years, but has now acquired the logistics company.

Zalando, Amazon and Otto together account for 18 percent of the 40 billion euros online shoe and apparel market in Western Europe. For now, Otto Group is the market leader, with Zalando just behind, but Amazon could be the number one soon. The American company is ramping up its fashion activities in Europe.

French sporting goods retailer Decathlon have launched a dedicated ecommerce website in Switzerland. Just a few days before Christmas, consumers in Switzerland can now order cheap sports clothing and accessories online.

In the United Kingdom, 44 percent of adults add to their income by selling products or services online and 30 percent thinks they will do this regularly. And half of Britons would prefer to run an online store rather than a high street shop.

In Spain, more people are using their smartphones and tablets to order products and services online. One in two Spanish internet users who have purchased online claim to have made some of these purchases through their mobile device. This is an increase of 15 percentage points compared to last year.

Two months after Lidl announced it will start selling fruits and vegetables online in Germany, the supermarket discounter is now experimenting with Lidl Express, a pick-up point for online orders where consumers can also buy fresh products.

Zalando is a major European online fashion player and one of the few that could compete with Amazon on European ground. But it doesn't look at its American counterparts as much as it does at Asian companies. Zalando has learnt a lot from players like Alibaba.

Ecommerce in Slovenia is showing growth of 35 to 40 percent. More Slovenian consumers are shopping online and there are now over 3,000 small and large online stores in Slovenia. Already 92 percent of online users have shopped online at least once.

Amazon has made history last week when it made its first drone delivery to a customer. The online retail company shipped a Fire TV stick and some popcorn 13 minutes after the customer in Cambridge, UK placed the order online.

Shopkick will leave Germany as of January 31, next year. The ecommerce app, which rewards consumers for walking into stores, entered the German market in October 2014, but is already leaving again. On the website it explains its parent company has made the strategic decision not to continue the service in Germany.
